A non professional gave me the advice of filing bankruptcy for debt i have totaling $5000. His argument was that with these debts that i have are obliterating my credit score anyway and that bankruptcy wouldnt be any worse. Is this true? What does filing bankruptcy do to your credit report and would it damage it more or less than leaving these debts sit as i do not have the money to pay them off at the moment. I had a bankruptcy discharged in March of 2005, and that bankruptcy did include a mortgage and home equity loan. My financial situation has improved, and I am thinking about buying another home, but am not sure if enough time has passed since the previous issues for banks to consider me as a client.

My lawyer screwed me over and caused a huge ordeal and investigation into my bankruptcy and has caused it to continue for so long with no end in site.
