Bankruptcy question: can bank add interest back to a loan if interest was stopped due to bankruptcy?

In Bankruptcy bank was paid what was in the arrears and the rest is being paid by my father. When asked what payoff was the bank added another 7400.00 to the balance on the statement saying it was back interest. Is this legal?
